I once met a girl
In fact she was a woman
We shared a jar of whiskey
On Park Avenue
She said she was a teacher
She looked like an angel
But I had no idea
What that lecturer could do
For me the nervous learner
At the age of twenty-two

She looked me in the eye
And asked if I was single
I said ma’am yes I am
Before she smiled and walked away
But when she reached the lobby
She turned around to beckon
And bein’ a nervous learner
I didn’t know what to say
There was no time for talkin’
In my mind anyway

When we reached the third floor
My hand it started shakin’

There’s no need to be fearful

I was the nervous learner
